Filming Day

Today was our main day of filming. We managed to complete all of our scenes apart from two due to actors not being available. Although weather conditions were changing we still managed to get some different shots. The rest of the scenes can be completed over the course of the weekend when the other actors are available.

Storyboard

These are the storyboards we used for a film. Through creating these they are good basis to then continue to make the script and shot list from the initial ideas that we had. This is a useful way to consider sound, shots and angles all in the same page meaning that we can develop these and make them more accurate. Things such as scripts and shot lists and storyboards mean that we have a clear idea of exactly what needs to be done when filming. It allows us to ensure that all tasks are completed when filming and not wasting any important filming time.

Production Diary

Pre Filming 2014

Having studied Drama at GCSE I understand that many students look for acting experience and this could be a good opportunity for them. This makes them more likely to be reliable and will want to be fully committed to our filming project. I contacted my previous Drama teacher asking for three actors who could fulfil the roles that we require.

Thursday 13th February 2014

The actors previously mentioned have not been able to participate in our film. I have contacted a friend who does drama at A Level who know some actors who could be trustworthy. Tomorrow as a group we will start filming the car wipe scene in order to progress with our film. We are hoping to film for the full day on Friday the 20th of February when we hope to complete the rest of the filming process.

Friday 14th February 2014

Today we filmed the first scene of our film. This was the wipe scene with the bus. The weather conditions today meant that filming was made more difficult due to the wind and rain. This could effect the quality of the film. To add to this the location we chose meant that it was in a town as busses would frequently pass here however this also meant that there were many people in the area who interrupted our filming. This mean we had to take more shots than anticipated.

Thursday 20th February 2014

Today we will make the final arrangements for our day of filming tomorrow. This will be the main day filming before we start to edit the film.

The filming during the day went smoothly however we had some minor problems. again weather conditions meant that it was difficult to get some of the shots that we wanted. To add to this we had a few issues with the camera due to our little experience with different equipment however this was overcome. Overall the filming was successful despite the few issues described.

Thursday 13th March 2014

Over the previous days we have been editing the large sections of the film, during this process we have noticed some gaps in the filming that are effecting the overall smoothness o the storyline. To ensure the story is understandable we need to film the remaining conversation and other smaller sections throughout the weekend. This should be the final day of filming.

We have also been researching potential music sources that could be used for our film in order to create tension and a sense of atmosphere. The link below is a website we found that offers free, uncredited music.

Thursday 20th March 2014

Today is the final day of filming. We shall complete the rest of the remaining scenes that need to be filmed in order to complete the editing process. We have selected the music for our film that will accompany the storyline. We need to re complete some different shots that weren't in focus or weren't at the correct angles to create the correct connotations of certain characters.

Prop List

Tracksuit Bottoms, Hoody and Trainers-

This is the costume being used for both the two main characters. We thought of this idea as it is baggy and not typical for a girl to wear but is for a boy. This will then link in with subverting the stereotype and our 'Final Girl' theory.

Camera-

For our camera we used a Sony HD1000. This is an upgrade from the previous camera as we wanted to make a better higher quality film for the audience to watch.

Tripod-

The tripod we are using is a much bigger and is more sturdy as we are filming more complicated shots.

Facebook Account-

We made different Facebook accounts to make the film more realistic. This will help us during filming to film the conversation between the two characters more precisely rather than blank screens or the back of the device being used.

IPad-

This is one of the pieces of technology we are going to use to communicate between the two characters. This is being used instead of a laptop as the character is moving around the house. It is also easier to film at the right angle.

Bedroom Paraphernalia-

This is everything inside a boys bedroom from the bed to the shelving. This is used to get a feel of the character, what they are about, what they like etc. this can also judge how old they are.

Kitchen Paraphernalia-

The kitchen is used during one of the final conversations between the two characters. The use of the paraphernalia is to make sure it looks homely and welcoming to everybody just like a typical house to live in.

Title Sequences

A title sequence is the method by which films present their title, production and cast members using visual and sound. There will also be an input into what the film is going to be about and how it is going to be presented.

In a Horror Film a main way of it being presented is very dark. A main way of presenting this is through old photographs. This is shown in the Title Sequence of the Conjuring:

This is an extract from Art of The Title. This is shown by using the old newspaper articles and photos to introduce the film. I think that this is a good way of introducing the film.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1457767/plotsummary?ref_=tt_ql_6

In 1971, Carolyn and Roger Perron move their family into a dilapidated Rhode Island farm house and soon strange things start happening around it with escalating nightmarish terror. In desperation, Carolyn contacts the noted paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren, to examine the house. What the Warrens discover is a whole area steeped in a satanic haunting that is now targeting the Perron family wherever they go. To stop this evil, the Warrens will have to call upon all their skills and spiritual strength to defeat this spectral menace at its source that threatens to destroy everyone involved.
Being a film based in 1971 the title sequence links in with the title sequence as it is black and white based and colour was only just being introduced.

Another Title sequence is from The Social Network:

I liked the way that this has been presented due to our idea being linked with Facebook. At the start I liked how the Facebook images and profile is used by the transitions. I think that this may be a good way of presenting our film idea but also linked in with the news reader broadcast.
